The project titled ‘Increasing the Professional Orientation and Competencies of Nursing Practitioners by Using Innovative Technology’, carried out under the coordination of Antalya Training and Research Hospital within the scope of Erasmus+ Small Scale Projects programme, developed a comprehensive and innovative orientation programme for new entrants to the nursing profession. This five-day programme aimed to increase the professional orientation and competencies of nurses with a holistic approach. The programme grouped the training contents under twelve main headings:

Soft  Skills: Communication skills, teamwork, critical thinking, conflict management and professionalism.

Hard Skills: Clinical processes, vital signs, patient fall precautions, mobilisation, invasive procedures, infection precautions, basic and advanced life support.

The content of each topic was planned to be practical. The trainings started with warm-up games to increase the motivation of the participants. The topics were reinforced through realistic scenarios, enabling nurses to combine their theoretical knowledge with practice. Simulation models were used especially in technical skills trainings and practices were meticulously evaluated with checklists. Thanks to the simulation model that provides digital feedback, participants received instant feedback on the effectiveness of CPR during CPR trainings and learnt the correct techniques in practice. In some subjects, educational games were organised for the participants to make the subjects more memorable.

In order to measure the effectiveness of the training programme, both written and verbal feedbacks were received from the participants through digital forms. While open-ended questions were asked for each topic, comprehensive questions were also asked for general training evaluation. This feedback played an important role in identifying the success of the programme and potential areas for future development.

This innovative orientation programme has made a significant contribution to comprehensively equipping professionals entering the nursing profession and maximising their professional competence.
